Award-winning Tinylab heads overseas
Land Regeneration Network, Jan 27 2005

A ground-breaking hand-held laboratory system providing industry with a uniquely accurate and effective system for instant on-site analysis is set to hit the worldwide market. Known as TinyLab, this new concept in portable analytical test equipment won its creator, Dr Sohail Hajatdoost, the Best Industrial Product Award at the British Invention Show in London, and is now attracting interest worldwide. Dr Hajatdoost is working with WalesTrade International’ (WTI) to bring his product before an international audience. Chartered chemist, Dr Hajatdoost has a background in academia and industry, and has worked for a number of blue chip companies as laboratory manager and chief chemist. "On-site testing saves time, and enhances safety as there is no need to transport hazardous chemicals, it is also simple to use and very accurate. Instead of taking a sample to the lab, we can now take a lab to the sample," he explained. "This innovation has resonance for a broad range of industries worldwide, including the water industry, environmental testing and various manufacturing industries." "It also has a domestic application and can be used for testing the water quality in swimming pools and aquariums, as well as being a useful educational tool in schools and colleges."

"With the support of WTI, a number of seminars have been set up with key players in a variety of industries," he explained. Face-to-face- meetings are an essential part of establishing successful overseas trade." "International distribution is another vital component for the success of this project, and WTI has laid the foundations for worldwide distribution to take place," he added. WTI’s Keith Waters is the Export Development Counsellor for Caerphilly. "This is a product with huge potential worldwide," he explained. "Bringing the lab to the industry will revolutionise the process of analytical testing, creating a speedy, safe and effective system that will save both time and money."
